Cork and Candles Comes to Greenville: Meet Lauren and Emma

South Carolina's very first Cork and Candles opens in downtown Greenville on September 24, and I could not be more excited about the two people bringing it to life. Lauren and her daughter Emma are longtime Greenville residents, and they are opening the doors at 301 N. Main Street with the same thing my family set out to build from the very start: a warm room where friends gather, slow down, and make something with their hands.

Every one of our locations has a story, and this one is a good one.

A mother and daughter, building something together

Lauren is no stranger to starting something from nothing and getting it right. She has successfully developed and built two Primrose Schools, and Emma was part of that journey from an early age. After introducing the first Primrose School to South Carolina, Lauren is once again bringing a brand-new concept to the state, this time as the owner of South Carolina's first Cork and Candles.

What first drew her to us was the chance to build a business alongside her daughter. She saw it as an opportunity for Emma to gain firsthand experience in entrepreneurship, learning what it really takes to own and operate a business well. Together they share a passion for serving others, creating meaningful experiences, and building something they can keep growing side by side. I learned candle-making from my own father, and years later our family opened Cork and Candles together, so a parent and child pouring their hearts into something side by side is the part of their story that means the most to me.

Where friends gather, now in Greenville

Our tagline, "Where Friends Gather," reflects exactly what Lauren and Emma want for their community. Their goal is a welcoming space where friends, families, coworkers, and neighbors can come together to connect and enjoy an evening worth remembering.

Cork and Candles is more than a candle-making studio. It is a place to celebrate a birthday or a bridal shower, plan a date night, gather the team for an outing, or simply spend real time with the people who matter most. Every guest leaves with more than a custom candle. They leave with a handcrafted keepsake to enjoy at home or give as a thoughtful gift, and with the kind of memory that lingers long after the wax has set.

What to expect at your experience

If you have never joined us before, here is how a night works. Each experience runs about 90 minutes and is led by a trained chandler who walks you through every step, so no experience is necessary, only a willingness to have fun. You will explore our scent library of more than 60 premium fragrance oils, blend the scents that feel like you, and pour two candles of your own into your vessel.

We are proudly BYOB, so bring your favorite bottle of wine and settle in. Sessions are $62 per person, and you take your candles home the same night. They simply need a patient week or so to cure before that first burn, which is always worth the wait.
