Featured in Patch: Cork & Candles Brings BYOB Candle Making to Bucks County

Bucks County, we made the local news. This week Newtown Patch published a feature on our brand-new Warrington scent bar and the Newtown resident behind it, Linda Welles. Reporter Jeff Werner visited the store at the Shops at Valley Square, walked through the experience, and talked with Linda about why a former baking and cooking instructor decided to open a BYOB candle-making studio in her own backyard.

We are grateful for the coverage, and even more excited about what it is really announcing: the first Cork & Candles in Bucks County is open, and the grand opening party is this Saturday.

What Patch had to say

The piece follows Linda's path from a franchise show in Philadelphia to opening her own doors, and it captures what makes a session here different from a trip to a regular store. Guests reserve a time, pick their fragrances from a library of more than 60 scents, and pour two candles each in a guided 90-minute session. The article also highlights our novelty candles, our monthly themed candle (October's is a spooky Halloween graveyard, and November brings Thanksgiving pie scents like pumpkin and pecan), and the fact that you are welcome to bring your own wine or beverage while you make it.

Our favorite part is Linda summing up the whole idea in one line. As she told Patch, "It's about sharing moments and creating memories."

She also shared a story from a recent session where a surprise birthday date turned into two people blending scents they thought the other would love, with a little Frank Sinatra playing in the background. That is exactly the kind of night this place was built for.

Join us for the grand opening this Saturday

Patch got the details right, so here they are again for anyone planning their weekend:

Saturday, October 24, 2026
11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Cork & Candles Warrington, Shops at Valley Square
1533 Main Street, Suite 400B, Warrington, PA 18976

Stop by for the ribbon-cutting, mimosas, raffles, and light bites. No reservation needed for the party itself. After the celebration wraps up, we open for regular reservations, with the last seating of the day at 8:30 p.m. If you want to make candles on opening day, we recommend booking your Warrington session ahead of time since grand opening weekends tend to fill up.

New to Cork & Candles? Here's how a visit works

If the article was your first introduction to us, welcome. Every experience at our Warrington candle making studio is led by a trained chandler, so no experience is necessary. You will smell your way through our scent library, blend the fragrances that feel like you, and pour two candles to take home the same night. Sessions run about 90 minutes and cost $62 per person, and we are proudly BYOB.

It works for just about any occasion: a date night, a girls' night out, a birthday, a bridal or baby shower, or a corporate team-building event. For larger groups and private bookings, our private events page has everything you need.

Thank you, Bucks County

Linda has been part of this community for a long time, and watching her neighbors show up for the store in its first few weeks has been the best part of this opening. If you have been waiting for a reason to come in, Saturday is it. Bring your friends, bring a bottle, and come see what the Patch story was all about.

We will see you at the Shops at Valley Square.
